Xenomorph Snake Dragon Halloween Entry

The submission had to be a xenomorph dragon hybrid with my Chinese zodiac sign (snake) mixed in and a Halloween theme.

Choosing a background was hard for this one, first I drew a cemetery, then a Halloween house, then a silent hill town, then a silent hill street, then a silent hill street with cars, and eventually I decided to keep the focus on the alien and the kids and just kept some cars from the silent hill street.

The cars were also really hard to draw because I could not find any cars from the right angle, so I used several as references and sort of made it work.

And the kids, the damn kids, they were a nightmare because I simply don't know how to draw people at all, so I drew some skeleton kids, added some meat on their muscles, then just gave up and gave them ghost costumes, which I think works really well, except I slightly messed up on their perspective.

The lineart for the alien looked really good, I used several tutorials of how to draw the alien, looked at some of the scenes from the movies, and referenced many of the existing dragon xenomorph hybrids.

Then I started to paint it, and being unable to draw a straight line with a tablet I had to go very slow but the result was still sub-par IMO!! So I drew a couple of very detailed pictures of xenomorphs and then went back to this, you can see it in the blue tail tip, where I used one of the other paintings tail and forgot to adjust the color of the light.

Also I wanted the hybrid to spit acid and actually drew it spitting it like a cobra would, but then decided it was just too much horror for me and settled with the snake-ish stripes and tongue.

Nearing the end of working on this I got nightmares of a zombie apocalypse where instead of zombies it was xenomorphs and I had to kill some people that I really care about so that they don't have aliens hatch out of them, it was very scary for me.
